The year 2018 has commenced on a positive note, both for the company as well as for the Indian Economy. It is therefore a good time to reflect on the year gone by, as well as gear ourselves for the year ahead. The Global economy is currently on an upswing with robust growth in Europe and the US, and this augers well for India too. This is reflected in the recent growth of India’s exports. A defining feature of the current international business structure is the dominance of a few players both in technology and consumer goods. To give a perspective, the top five technology companies in the US have a market capitalization of USD 3.5 Trillion while the entire market capitalization of the Indian stock market is USD 2.3 Trillion. It indicates the importance of scale, which we need to be mindful of. There are some concerns such as increasing protectionism and higher crude oil prices; however with improved productivity, India is likely to weather these uncertainties and be a net beneficiary.
The Indian Economy last year witnessed some turbulence with the introduction of GST, but that in now behind us. Recent data indicates that the country is now poised for a period of steady economic growth. The benefits of lower logistics cost on account of GST has started to flow, the impact of RERA (Real Estate Regulation Act) will benefit the genuine house buyers and the focus on ease of doing business at the state level will boost economic activity. In this context, we hope to sustain stable performance of our company.
