
In 1920 Sir Shri Ram and his brother in law Shri Sher Singh and friend Shri. Diwan Chand set up a Commercial Education Trust with a fund of Rs 2 lakh and opened a Commercial School which today is called Shriram College of Commerce (SRCC).

- Delhi Cloth Mills (DCM) was founded on 26th March 1889, the founder was Lala Gopal Rai ( eldest uncle of Sir Shri Ram).
- Sir Shri Ram was born on 27th April 1884. He was born on the day of Ram Navami and that is why he got the name Shri Ram.
- Sir Shri Ram joined DCM in 1912 , the diversification and expansion of DCM happened under his leadership . At the time of his death DCM had become a Rs 600 million group.

- Sir Shri Ram at the age of 46 was appointed as the 4th Chairman of FICCI on 16th February, 1930.
