• Delhi Cloth Mills (DCM) was founded on 26th March 1889, the founder was Lala Gopal Rai ( eldest uncle of Sir Shri Ram).
• Sir Shri Ram was born on 27th April 1884. He was born on the day of Ram Navami and that is why he got the name Shri Ram.
• Sir Shri Ram joined DCM in 1912 , the diversification and expansion of DCM happened under his leadership . At the time of his death DCM had become a Rs 600 million group.
• Sir Shri Ram got married in 1900 to Smt. Phulan Devi and had three children: Mr Murlidhar, Dr Bharat Ram and Dr Charat Ram.
• Sir Shri Ram was the member of the first RBI Board of Directors was constituted on 1st April 1935 & continued till 1961.
• In recognition of Lala Shri Ram's Industrial and Administrative work capability the then British Govt. of India conferred the honour of knighthood to Sir Shri Ram on 18th February 1941.

• The renowned DCM Football Tournament & Hockey Tournament was started in 1945.
• The DCM Inter Mills tournament started in 1954.
• Sir Shri Ram at the age of 46 was appointed as the 4th Chairman of FICCI on 16th February, 1930.
